Calanthe discolor Lindl.

An evergreen species from the forests of Japan and the Ryukyu Islands. The blooms are borne on an erect raceme up to 50-60cm tall with 8-15 flowers. The maroon coloured flowers each reach up to 5cm across. It is an easy grower in warm temperate environments.
