This time I had a tripod and a 500mm lens.

It's all a matter of focus...and timing.


I positioned myself on the bend, focused on the winning post and panned across a little to be looking down the straight. (focus on a point where you hope your subject will be)

Without looking in the viewfinder I waited until the lead horse passed the post and quickly clicked the shutter.
