You are about to embark on one of the most fascinating, and informative orchid adventures of your life. The Oasis Journal, is a new quarterly international orchid publication. It is dedicated to the conservation, culture, identification, and landscape use of exotic and native orchid species and natural hybrids from around the globe. The journal is further enhanced, by colour photography.

Oasis is edited by a renowned conservationist, Rod Rice, a highly qualified horticulturist and well published author and orchidologist. Rod's experience in the professional horticultural industry spans some 20 years, and some 30 years as a specialised plant collector. Rod has a specialised interest in the orchid subtribes Maxillarinae and Stanhopeinae, and he has been involved in the taxonomic studies of the genus Gongora for some 10 years and is a known authority on the genus. During 1996, Rod also successfully established, Gongora Productions orchid species identification centre and herbarium of exotic & indigenous orchids. Rod is also a well known and popular speaker.

The journal, will cover a number of aspects of many species and genera, from a wide range of geographical areas. "Oasis", will provide sound identification and up to date information on many groups, including the genera Maxillaria, Cymbidium, Stanhopea, Gongora, Oncidium, Bulbophyllum, many terrestrial genera, the very large subtribe of Pleurothallids, new Paphiopedilum species, Australian natives and other taxa from nearby countries, the Angraecoids of Africa and Madagascar, and the Sarcanthinae vandaceous subtribe predominantly of Asia, the genera Encyclia, Laelia, Cattleya, Coelogyne and Dendrobium and many many others, plus photography and observations of first hand reports from numerous exotic countries, book reviews and much more.
